During this project we got asked to play an acoustic gig which we did. The songs we were practicing we really didn’t think would fit for acoustic as we were doing Billie Jean and just a girl , Ellie wanted to do what makes your beautiful by one direction so we decided to learn and perform that song instead for the gig. Even though I think it was a better song choice it still wasn’t the right music for this gig especially with the audience that was there.
The actual performance was alright we learnt the song for the gig in roughly a week, I think the worst bit of the performance is the start because I come in faster than the guitar is so we were out of time but we fixed it and it sounded alright. Since the song lacked energy especially when played acoustic , we started practicing the song at a faster tempo to give in more energy.
We took 2 minutes to set up and get ready to play the song which for what we had to do was a long time I think we should’ve been a lot quicker with that.
Since we were at a market and they asked us to keep the volume down we played with acoustic guitars and hot rod sticks for the drums so we could keep the volume down. I think an acoustic gig did fit the venue more than a normal one would , especially with the audience as it was all mainly older people who probably would prefer a quite acoustic performance.
I think if I could redo this project and gig I would make sure everyone takes the practices more seriously and we don’t mess about with our set list so much and choose a set list that fits the venue/gig more since we lacked at targeted audience.
