Skin Conditions

Eczema- an itchy rash caused by inflamed skin. The most common form is Atopic Eczema/Atopic Dermatitis. Using certain products on a model with eczema may irritate their skin further, like a myriad of other skin conditions.

Psoriasis- an autoimmune condition that causes rashes. These rashes can appear on a person’s elbows, knees, lower back and scalp most commonly. The most common form of Psoriasis is Plaque Psoriasis, which is patches of dry skin covered in plaques. Other forms include Scalp Psoriasis, Nail Psoriasis and Guttate Psoriasis.

Acne- caused by dead skin cells and oil from the skin clog the hair follicles. This can cause physical discomfort as well as impacting a person’s self esteem. Like most skin conditions, special products will be required when working with a model who suffers from Acne.

Rosacea- a skin condition that typically affects the face, resulting in a red rash. It can have an effect on other areas, however, such as the chest and ears. This is usually only present with more mature models.

Ringworm- also known as Dermatophytosis is a fungal infection. This affects the skin, causing red, irritated circular rashes to appear. The affected area may also lose hair.

Shingles- a viral disease. Causes painful rashes with blisters in the affected areas. Shingles can be spread, so it’s advised to not work with models who have it.

Herpes- also known as cold sores. Causes blisters around the mouth. This is highly contagious and you shouldn’t attempt to work with a model who has Herpes.

Warts- a virus that infects the skin, causing growths. It can be spread by skin contact, or by touching an infected surface. Like with any infectious skin condition, working with a model with warts isn’t advised.

Scabies- an itchy rash caused by mites burrowing into the skin, often starting between the fingers. Scabies can be spread easily from person to person, so working with models who have scabies is not a good idea.
