My task was to create a ghost makeup look of a UK criminal for the Bradford police museum. This makeup look will be done on the performing arts students and will show of my research skills are makeup skills.

I was then given a research task to find a criminal to create, I decided to do Harold shipman as i thought it would be fun to try create and will be interesting to find out what he did and his crimes.

Harold shipman research

Harold shipman was born in Nottingham England on the 14th of January 1946 and died January 13th 2004. Harold shipman dad was Harold Fredrick shipman and was a lorry driver and his mother was vera shipman. He was the 2nd of 3 children from his parents. When shipman was younger he played rugby in youth leagues and was very good at it . Harold was very talented in sport especially running and rugby. Harold shipman had a wife called primrose may Oxtoby and they had 4 children together. Harold is know as the most prolific serial killers in modern history killing 218 confirmed and 15 convicted estimated around 250 killings. In 1998 Harold killed 7 alone. Harold shipman killed people between the ages of 49-93 by injecting them with painkillers and saying they died from natural causes. Harold killed between the years 1975-1998.

Harold first victim was estimated to be around 1975 which would make Harold 29 years old. Harold killed Eva Lyons on the eve of her 71st birthday while in Abrahams Ormerod medical practice in Todmorden shipman was then fired from Abrahams Ormerod medical practice for forging prescription he received a fine but wasn’t stuck of as a practitioner. Harold shipman was caught by forging the will of one of his victims and then sentenced to life in prison on the 31st of January 2000 at Preston crown court for killing 15 elderly patients with morpheein injection. Then the police when under an investigation in 2001 to see the extent of his crimes .then in 2004 he was found dead in his prison sell after committed suicide at the age of 57

my first practice attempt

when I did my first practice i think it went well as I added all the features that connected to Harold shipman such as the bruises on the neck and scrapes as he hung himself and the death look on the face with darker under eyes and purple undertones. I was happy with how i did the scrapes and bruises as I think they looked realistic. However I could improve how I applied the beard as I didn’t make the beard further up the face enough and it didn’t look realistic. I listened to the feedback jasmine gave me about the beard and i made sure I did the beard first so I have enough time.

patch test

I did a patch test on a performing art students so I knew if they where allergic to any products and I was be safe with the products I was using

I did the patch test by using a sponge and adding a little bit of latex pros aide an spirt gum at the top of the arm and waiting a few minutes until its dry and to make sure there isn’t a reaction I then asked my model to give me her contact details so I could contact them.

the products price can Varey however the prices can be fake blood £3-£30

sponges-£2-£5, Bruise wheel- £5-£10, synthetic hair around £10,congealed blood- £7.50,makeup brushes- £5- £20, illustrator palate- £50- £100

Image inspiration

Theses images below show some inspiration to what i wanted my look to look like as they look realistic.

hair laying

In lesson we learnt about deferent types of hair laying and how to do it. We was taught that hair laying is applying fake hair and to make it look realistic. We learnt that hair laying is usually used in tv and film and theatre to create characters. We was taught that to remove the hair we use rec bond breaker or spirt gum remover. For hair laying you can use synthetic hair and real hair. The prices are usually £100-£1000 and synthetic £10- £40. I created hair laying using synthetic hair and lace and pros aide.

This image shows an image i found on google of before and after hair laying

mature skin research

i researched what mature skin looked like as Harold shipman would have had mature skin when he died as he was in his 50s.I have found out that mature skin will appear more wrinkle as it ages over time and you will notice darker lines in the skin

The image above is an image above of mature skin. This image shows lines and dark undereye
