Gentleman Jack was a movie filmed in Halifax and widely across yorkshire. The reason for this is because the main actor was from Halifax. Additional places where they filmed was Sutton park, near York, Bramham in leeds. Gentleman Jack was filmed and directed by multiple companies such as Bradford film office, Leeds city council and much more. The story behind Gentleman Jack was to bring awareness to ‘the first modern lesbians’. It was highly inspired by a book called ‘inspired by’ Jill liddington. In 1832, Miss Anne Lister leaves Hastings brokenhearted and heads to the lush landscape of Halifax to restore her uncles estate that she inherited. While restoring the estate she finds that the family land has a coal mine and that it is being stolen by two brothers.
