So finally after many tries, many re-doing’s, many mixing and listening, I have completed my project ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran cover on my digital workstation arranger the Yamaha psr sx700. Here is the link to the video hope you enjoy.
What went well?
So while doing this project, what went well is the solo with the 3 voices that I’ve attached together and the voices were a PopGrand piano, a sampled original acoustic guitar the Fender CC-60S and studio strings. The solo went well because I play long enough and by hearing the song over and over multiple times, I knew which pitch to hit on the keys and the tone of his voice.
What were the challenges and how did I over come them?
The real challenges which made me take time on this project was the master mixing of every instrument and every voice in the piece I’ve made, for example in the guitar that was strumming along in the piece I had to record it first on point with an metronome on to keep me in pace with the beat but even with the metronome on, I have always failed to keep in pace and I have had to re-de the whole guitar again and I have had the same problem with the drum beat and bass. The EQ frequency of every instrument and the gain of every instrument has had to be mixed to mainly 500hz and 630hz so that the piece sounds nice and calming and sway. Then the echo, halls, reverb and chorus has had to added into every instrument which took a lot of mixing. It was a headache but I’ve overcome it by putting my mind to it and doing it slow.
