This is the first rehearsal of I wish that I was a part of. As you can tell by the video, collectively we are struggling quite a bit both with the parts we were playing and also finding the vibe that this music is played with. My playing was rather poor to my standards and I felt quite disappointed in myself. We couldn’t even get through the song – to no single persons blame it was a group job. Drums were dragging, keyboards were clashing, and Robert wasn’t confident in himself (which he absolutely should be) and it was overall not the greatest rehersal I’ve ever been a part of.
This is the second rehearsal of I wish that we did that day and this one went far better than the previous one. We actually managed to finish the song although there were still many mistakes and mishaps. The ending of the song was all over the place as we still didn’t really know what to do. The main issue seems to be transitioning between the different sections, especially the one from chorus to just drums and vocals.
As far as how I’d improve my playing, it just comes down to sitting and practicing that melody over and over again until I can play it. It’s not the notes themselves, I can play Chopin pieces, it’s just the way it starts on the beat and then goes off beat and transitions between on the beat and off the beat.
This is the first rehearsal we did of Aeroplane, it went okay. The intro dragged especially but the rest of the song was all over the place with the tempo. I kept playing the wrong stuff and Robert again wasn’t very confident in himself and it overall just felt unprofessional but for a first rehearsal it was not bad at all.
I need to practice my piano parts once again and also listen to the song because I don’t know it and it’s much easier to play something when you know what it is supposed to sound like. As a group we need to work on our feel because both of those songs sound dead and bland currently.
This rehearsal of I wish went so much better than the prior ones. I could actually play my part in time, I know – the bare minimum, and everyone else was playing pretty well. We understood the structure of the song so the transitions between chorus and verse were so much cleaner. The stops at the end were sounding great just Oliver needed to decide whether he’s doing a solo or not. The collective feel for the song was also there, much better than the previous rehearsal.
To improve all I need to do is practice my part, simple as.
We did uptown funk on what felt like borrowed time. Everything was uncertain and shaky basically up to the day. The guitars and bass were pretty solid to start off with, same with the vocals as we had Marcel helping Robert out and giving him that boost of confidence he needed. My keyboard playing was quite shocking, I just kept forgetting things and playing out of time – usually rushing parts as we were still dragging quite heavily as a band. The ending was not good, we needed to figure out what we were doing with that ending but overall good for a first attempt.
This is the first mock performance we did.
I wish went mediocre. The intro was very good and everyone was seemingly confident in what they were playing. I
