Here I have a list of initial ideas for my final project of this year of college, there is a fair amount of versatility being shown – both inside of the projects and between the projects themselves.
- Releasing music – This can be in the form of a single, ep, or album. For the release I will distribute it as much as possible onto major streaming platforms, create the artwork for the release, and compose all of the music inside of fl studio. It will be in the style of drum and bass, similar to Hedex, Bou, and Guv. I have been making drum and bass since 12, with the first song I created being on garageband.
- Sound engineer – For this I’d either do studio work or live sound work. I can either do this inside of college – recording someones band or doing sound at a performance – or get a local placement working at a studio or a venue. I’d hope to record using pro tools, however, I can use other DAWs for this purpose. Just like the releasing music project, I have had a lot of prior experience with DAWs and working with sound.
- Music video – I would help direct, film, and edit a music video for a band or solo artist at college. This would include: planning the video, finding the filming locations, filming the video, and helping edit the video on Adobe Premier or whichever software is being used.
- Teaching music – There are multiple different routes I can go down for this. I could physically go into a school and teach either instrument skills or theory. I can teach 1 to 1 instrument or theory lessons and document the progress of the students. Or I could do online videos teaching about either instrument skills, theory skills, or DAW and sound design skills.
- Live performance – I would either form a band with some other students for this or I could do a solo project – most likely DJing. There are several possible venues for this: the college performance hall, one of the local venues in Bradford city centre, or at the Deer shed festival. I think this project idea does show the most versatility as I could perform a wide range of genres with this project idea.
