China Riddim

China Riddim is the last song I have produced for this project.

This song I wanted to be quite similar in tonality to Orbital but have a different twist to it.

The first thing I worked on was the melody, which uses a very weird scale and lots of minor seconds to create that very oriental sound, this paired with the vst sakura creates the main melody of the song. For 2 of the 3 songs I am releasing I have used sakura to create all of the melodic sounds because I really like the sound of the vst. It has a very eastern asian and oriental sound to it and I love it.

The majority of the drums in this song I synthesized myself. I have a page detailing all of the drum synthesis I have researched and done, I also created myself a small sample pack of all these drums for use in songs.

The sub was made on serum. I make all my subs on serum at the moment however I have been thinking about using hardware subs because they just have a better sound to them.

The final details lay in effects and automation. I really like automating EQs to fade different sounds in and out, as well as filter changes before the drop.

Here is the video where I go into detail on how I produced this song

In conclusion, this song is amazing. It is my favourite out of every song I have produced for this project, it is really good. I have been receiving lots of positive feedback for this one and I have been guaranteed a radio play of this song on subtle FM, unfortunately a day after the due date of this project. Unfortunate that I can’t add that to my portfolio but that isn’t the end of the world as it is an incredible song regardless of whether I get to show the exam board my radio clip or not. Very proud of myself with this!
