A very important stage is distribution, because if you don’t distribute your music how is it going to be on streaming platforms?
There are a variety of distribution services, services that put your music on streaming platforms. Examples include Distrokid, Tunecore, CD baby, and Soundcloud, and I will be using Soundcloud to distribute my music.
The first step to distributing was going onto SoundCloud’s distribution page, this can be accessed if you have a SoundCloud for artists account. After this I then uploaded the tracks onto the page here and changed the song titles to the correct names.
I then had to upload the artwork I did for the project, as well as determining some details about the track like genre and release title.
Then I had to select which streaming platforms to release with. I chose practically every platform besides the ones that had issues with distribution – ie the russian ones.
Then I had to do profile mapping, and I decided to create a new profile on spotify and apple music to release my music under which I can then log into through their artist account schemes.
And finally I had to do the split pay section which I didn’t really have anything to fill in because it’s an individual release.
I have distributed my music now as of the 9th of May and the scheduled release is for Friday the 19th of May.
