Final Evaluation

Overall I think my project has gone well. It has been a very new experience for me doing work in this manner, very much independently and to my own free will. Making a drum and bass EP was a very fun experience and I have learnt so much from this, both with the creative process as well as other parts including research.

The strongest part about this project I would say were the productions. I came into this project with a relatively strong knowledge about producing drum and bass, which was an incredibly useful asset as it meant I could produce a high quality of product – which I think I did. There were a few rough patches when I was making the songs, usually when I was in the first creative processes as coming up with the ideas for songs in the first place is usually the hardest part. I learnt about mastering during this project too, taught to me both by my teacher lewis and the internet.

I think the thing that I need to greatly improve on is the documentation on my digital space, I left my documentation especially my research far too late and that meant I found it harder to properly document everything I did. I would’ve also liked to go more in depth with my videos on how the songs were made, maybe doing videos during making the music and showing the processes rather than just a summary.

I think it is definitely a new experience for me doing and setting out my work in this manner compared to testing at the end of a school year and it has definitely been a learning curve. However I have definitely learnt in this learning curve, both subject specific skills and transferable ones.

In summary I think that this project has gone very well, and the music I have made is something I am proud of.
