TUTOR/ STUDENT FEEDBACK:
The actor I was doing makeup for seemed happy with her makeup, the tutor available also said that my work looked cool. One of the HE videographers was also very intrigued by my work and was asking me lots of questions like how I made the wounds and said that my work was good. I didn’t receive any points for improvement from a makeup tutor as there wasn’t one available on the day of the assessment.
PERSONAL REFLECTION:
Overall, I enjoyed this part of the project. I had a lot more fun doing this than the previous Hocus Pocus assessment, but this probably had a lot to do with the change in environment. In this assessment there was a lot more space even with more people present and the workspace was familiar which also made me more confident that I could perform well this time. I think my makeup and hair was good, but I should have tried to blend the contour more. I also think that I didn’t mix the right amounts of the sculpt gel parts because I found lots of lumps in it after I applied it to my models face and had a hard time blending it well as a result. I also didn’t make enough sculpt gel to fit all 3 wounds well, so this also made it harder for me and I ended up losing a bit of dimension at the very ends of the wounds- much like my third assessment of this project. I thought that my hair was quite good and I don’t think that the hair would have looked better or worse if I had added smaller curls, but considering the time I had to complete my look and clean up before we had to leave I thought that I did very good overall with my hair and makeup for this assessment. To improve this look, I could have quickly removed the sculpt gel and start again rather than working towards a lower standard of work that I know I can achieve much higher than.
SMART TARGET: In the future, I will explore more variations of my makeup and hair designs in person rather than just digitally on my face charts and mood boards. By doing this I can create realistic expectations for what I can achieve in any specific time frame.
