Week 1: (11th and 12th of March)
On Monday, Myself and another classmate participated in an in-house makeup competition where if we won we would be entered into a makeup competition at the event we are going to at the end of March:
On Tuesday, we were given our brief for our Final Major Project. We began to plan our ideas for the three parts of this project:
- Stimulus Expression- where we would pick one of 6 words to create a makeup look.
- Musical Theatre- Where we would pick a character from the performing arts’ show Peter Pan.
- House Of Schiaparelli- Where we would create a High Fashion Look based on Schiaparelli’s work and create something never-before-seen.
Week 2: (18th & 19th of March)
On Monday, we had our Pitch and Proposals.
Also, we went over some styles for textured hair. It was my first time attempting to create twists- where you section the hair and wrap it around itself, adding more hair as you go. Because of the thickness of the hair it will keep the shape but you can add hair pins for extra security. This attempt wasn’t that good because I didn’t hold the hair tight enough as I was working:
I tried again and made sure to hold the hair very tight. I think this time it looked a lot better.
Next we tried box braids. My tutor told me that the first braid was the best one and that I should have kept the size of the section the same all the way around the head, I think that I did ok for my first attempt though.
I borrowed a prosthetic piece, Pros Aide and Pro Clean to practice my prosthetic application for the first part of my final major project:
On Tuesday, we learnt how to set up, clean and use an air brush after putting dermashield on where we were practicing. In class we learnt the difference in appearance when you use an airbrush up close and from far away (up close being the more opaque marks and from far away being the lighter marks).
SMART TARGET: Continue practicing airbrushing in the future.
Week 3: (8th & 9th of April)
Monday was the assessment for the Stimulus Expression, I didn’t do very well as I ran into several issues including the airbrush I was using continuously clogging, the prosthetics being too small and not knowing how much body paint I needed to use.
On Tuesday, I was doing theory work for the majority of the lesson. I was told that I was to re do my assessment so that I could keep up me high grades. After planning the basics of what I wanted to do, I spent Tuesday evening making the ears for my project.
Week 4: (15th and 16th of April)
On Monday, I styled the wig I needed for my assessment. I washed it with the shampoo and conditioner in the way I was taught last time I styled a wig. I then added bendy rollers and steamed the wig before putting it in the wig oven:
On Tuesday, I re sat my assessment- I thought that this went a lot better than before:
Week 5: (22nd and 23rd of April)
On Monday, I spent the lesson modelling for my classmate.
On Tuesday, I completed my theatre makeup assessment and made the face charts for my Fashion assessment:
Week 6: (29th and 30th of April)
On Monday, I practiced my the makeup for my Schiaparelli look using face paint on one side of my face and pink eyeliner of the other side to see which one would look best. I learnt that the face paint was a lot brighter and didn’t dry as quick as the liner so I decided to use that.
On Tuesday, I completed my assessment:
