Peer Performance

Timing and rhythm straight away as soon as the drummer was supposed to come in he was very blatantly late and really made us look quite weak. After that slip up on the intro the instruments aren’t actually doing so bad with rhythm and timing we sound pretty on point with that which is great especially in the early stages. This makes us look stronger as a band. However I do hear that the drummer on the chorus is slightly delayed when it comes to the crash hits it just sound like he’s only just not hitting it in time making him sound off from the band this can be fixed one by making him aware of the problem and then telling him to stop being lazy because he can definitely hit them on time he just has to wake up. the timing for the solo was very off. I thought I had practiced it enough and had it down confidently but clearly not, it just shows i need more practice.

For note accuracy the guitar sounds fairly precise with if not every note ringing out nice and clear(if only tone wasn’t so bad.) One thing that does not sound so great is the timing of the first note for the solo I was a little late hitting it and it again made the solo section of the song sound very weak and unrehearsed. The second bend for the solo also sound a little flat I didn’t put enough bend pressure on the string to be able to reach the correct note, I should practice the solo more and more until I can confidently say I have the solo down. Me and the bassist both mess up on the second half of the solo making it sound even worse than it already did because it left silence apart from the drums which made me and Rhys sound very bad. Every last thing about this solo was bad I don’t know if I was nervous or what but I didn’t not sound like that before in rehearsals I need to make sure I don’t let my nerves get the better of me.

Chord transitions for this performance sound pretty spot on with smooth, quick transitions that made me look a lot better than the solo did showing control, note precision and comfortability/confidence with my instrument. For the verses the guitar sound is very thin so not much changes can be heard but i’m pretty sure the transitions were quick and on time the way they should be

My tone and sound in this performance is absolutely way off with loads of distortion and a very thin sound which is like the opposite to the original. This performance was like half way through the first project and we had a good few weeks to get the tone and sound. One thing that wasn’t on my side was the fact that a a few other bands had used the amp before me and I didn’t really have enough time to make the adjustments necessary to get the correct tone, a way i can fix this is just by practicing messing the the EQs on an amp and getting quicker at find the sweet spot for the right tone for whatever song I may be wanting to perform. The girls voices are also not split up so they sound really bad when all singing together, they need to be split up with their own separate parts and occasionally singing together to add emphasis to a section of the song they want to highlight.

My technique for this performance varied in skill, some moments like the intro and the solo showing weak points and flaws in my skill and technique and skill when it comes to bending strings or keeping a nice controlled sound on a slower solo that requires a little more control for a smooth successful solo. There where also points in the song like the verse and chorus where all the notes for the section are ringing out and precise, all chords are strummed correctly with all the notes within the chord also ringing out of clear. The biggest section on technique I feel I need to work on is my soloing and having more control over slower solos that require good technique for a good sound.

This performance as zero dynamics all instruments drums and voices all sound the same from start to finish which is making us sound a lot less entertaining and we are more likely to lose the audiences attention when we sound the same for too long. A way we can fix this is by starting the song a little more calm and softer and slowly build up to a nice powerful sounding outro after the solo giving it some more entertaining points and would help grab people attention instead of boring them with the same sound/volume level the whole way through.

For our stylist appropriateness we tried to stick exactly to the original down to tone, notes, chords, strumming, bass and drums to attempt to perfectly replicate the song. As you can hear it did not go as planned as the tone was all over the place and really far from the original clean tone on the track the drums had to be altered to make it a little easier to play. The vocals definitely don’t sound like the original as there is no vocal control. As a whole we all did terrible.

There is zero improvisation on this performance as we tried to replicate the original.

Stage presence as a whole band was terrible I didn’t move, bassist didn’t move 2 of the singers went of in a world of their own and every one else was sort of trying to go along with it. What should have happened was we should of discussed a little routine for stage presence on how we want to be seen how we want to move and how we can work with each other to put on a show. I will use this performance as an example of what not to do next time.

The overall impact of this performance I feel was not at all memorable and if any thing people would want to erase this gig from their brain as it consisted of nothing entertaining it showed more error and fails then it did skill and technique. I feel we should all use this video as a all time things to avoid while performing guide as that would be helpful.
