Level 3 (extended) – Ambition Hub – Project 3- FMP Auditions- Evaluation and Viva

Q1. How did you prepare for the audition?

To prepare for this acting audition I did a lot on rehearsals with my group for the acting audition and we first read through the script before blocking and rehearsing and then blocking after blocking we just read through and just rehearsed all day and also learned the script after rehearsing for a while then coming back to rehearse without the script. When preparing for the dance audition we had a lesson on how to do the dance and then after the class for the rest of the week we just kept going over it as a class and also in our own time. The dance we did was footloose. For the singing audition we all had to practice at home and we did it in our own time, we only got to pick a musical song and it could not be longer than three minutes. The song I did was Sparkling Diamond from Moulin Rouge but only the first half because the rest was group singing.

Q2. How did you feel about going into the audition ?

For my acting audition I was a bit nervous but this year I was the most confident I was when coming to audition as I wanted a good role so I put all my fears aside and did my all. My singing audition went really good is well because I felt really prepared for this as this year I prepared a song that fits my vocal range and how I can show my performance skills, when singing by myself is well I do sometimes have a shaky voice but when I feel more prepared and calm I did not have a shaky voice. For my dance audition I felt like it went really well as I gave it my all and showed of all my technique in the audition and facial expressions is well.

Q3. What would you do differently next time based on this audition?

Next time in the acting audition if I was to do it again I would do a monologue by myself as I did have a few lines in this audition but not as much to express myself as a character. For my singing I would try give my self a song that is full and fits my vocal range. For my dancing audition I would practice my technique before going in even though we did do a technique lesson it would of been good for me to have perfect turns in for the audition.

Q4. How did you feel trying to remember all three acting, singing and dancing auditions before the audition?

In my spare time when I am free I just spent as much time on the singing as that is the one I was doing by myself and trying to find the song that fit me the best. When it came to the acting one before I went to bed every night before the audition I just looked at my script over and over to know the lines. Finally for my dance audition I looked at the video of the dance audition and then just kept practicing it every day before the audition.

Q5. Where you able to connect with your character in all your auditions?

In my acting auditions I had a different character than I wanted it to, however I did try to connect with my character as much as possible in the audition. In my singing audition I tried to carry the emotion and happiness through my voice to keep everything like my character would. Finally in my dance audition I put all my effort into it so it can motivate myself to give myself confidence when it comes to dancing.

Q6. When doing your audition did you feel like you projected your lines?

I feel like this has been my best audition I have done after the past two years I have been in performing arts Bradford college. This is because I felt confident within my self as knowing the lines really well, so because of this it made me feel like I can present my character.

Q7. When you got given the script did you look up your character so you can get the right emotions?

I did look up who Judy is by having watching the play and researched on how to do it. I also had my parents practice it with me as them being Siobhan and Christopher to know how it will be like when not practicing with my cast members for the auditions and having my siblings be the director to make it feel like it was the actual thing and just remember what type of emotions I needed to do.

Q8. Before going into your vocal audition how did you prepare for it?

When I was waiting to go in I did a vocal warm up with my friends which we found on YouTube so my voice doesn’t get out of breath as my voice that day was very saw so I just wanted to warm up so I can not cough in my audition.

Q9. When singing did you stay in rhythm with the song?

I did stay in rhythm with the song because I listened to it everyday before going to bed and on my way into college, so I knew when the lines of each song is coming up.

Q10. Out of all of your auditions what was your strongest one?

My strongest audition was mainly dancing as I practiced it every single day and so I can give it my all, to not stress about it when it comes to the dancing as within performing arts it is definitely one of my strongest point of view.

Q11.After your auditions did it give you a boost of confidence that you could get a better part than you wanted to?

This years I felt like was my best one yet so I feel like I can have a good chance with my role I want but I will be absolutely fine with any other type of role. Having this chance of feeling prepared helped me so I was not scared of messing up anything and just focusing on how to deliver my character in every audition.

Q12. What are the key parts you will take from this years audition?

The key parts I will take is in acting I should just of done a monologue instead so then it gives me a chance with a way to enhance my character instead of being in a acting audition group with three people. I will also take to give my self a more solo audition and not just half of a song in the singing audition to give my full ability.

Q13. When doing this years audition how did it compare to in the past?

This years audition was definitely my best set of auditions yet this is because, I felt more confidence within my self as I have a lot of confidence in my acting, singing and dancing.

Q14. When practicing the auditions what was the most challenging part of your audition?

The most challenging one for me is singing as it is not my strongest point because I do not get to practice a lot by myself at home. So learning the song whilst doing loads of hobby’s outside of college was hard because I get home late at night but I did get through in the end with practicing.

Q15. When you did your singing audition, how confident did you feel?

In my singing audition I felt very confident within myself as a singer that day as I warmed up before I got into the room and listened to the actual song and karaoke before going in, which then made me feel like I had a advantge.

Q16. When you was singing did you make good use of the stage?

I feel like I did make a good use of the stage I did not walk around the stage but I felt as a performer in the moment that I did.

Q17. How did you feel like you did when making eye contact in your audition?

I feel like that I did make a lot of eye contact in my auditions as I wanted to show my facial expressions on what I am saying to the audience and how I want my character to be shown in the audition.

Q18. For your next audition what will you do differently to prepare for your audition’s?

When preparing for my auditions next time if I got given my script and dance the same day I will learn that first over and over then go onto picking my songs, to make myself feel confident in my acting.

Q19. In any of your auditions did you have any challenges?

Yes, in my acting audition I forgot one of my lines but my friend in my group helped me remember by a que. Finally in the singing audition I did stumble on the song a bit but I made a recover from it by remembering the lines by the song.

Q20. Overall how well did you feel like you did in your audition’s ?

I feel like I did really when in my auditions this year because I had more help but also felt more confident and less scared in myself when performing to know I have people to support me.
