Next in theatre auditions you would learn a monologue, song and a dance but in tv you do a scene from the actual script. Usually vocal projection in theatre you have to use a strong and loud voice to be heard across the whole stage and in the room in general, however in TV you just need to use your normal tone voice as your only talking to a camera and not in a big room in front of loads of people. Physical movement in theatre is used more because of how much dancing actors have to do but in tv their is more smaller movements this is because the actor should be aware of were the camera is. Moreover theatre has more rehearsals because they spend months on there performance but on TV they normally just shoot it on the day as actors should be ready to perform but obviously they can retake l0ads of scenes again if they needed. Finally theatre wants performance skills but TV they only look for camera presence and screen chemistry.

Q41. What is the different from a child audition in musical theatre and adult audition?
The audition will be very hard for both child and adult however the director and choreographer will make it easer for the children so there’s not as much pressure for them. The first thing is the audition expectation on the experience level the children wont have much experience on what to do in a audition however in adults they have to be required to have audition experience so they know what is going on, the children will be given their songs and script sometimes dance and they will be easier for them but for adults they have to choose everything for themselves. Next they will give them a optional choice for doing a monologue and the dancing will be easy to follow, but adults have to do the monologue and pick it themselves and the dance auditions will be hard. Finally when it comes to the audition the children’s audition will be shorter so they do not have to wait as long but the adults audition will have to be longer as the adults have to do all acting , dancing and singing.

Q44. Why is improvisation important for audition?
When you go into the audition after your monologue they might want you to do some improvisation. Having good improvisation skills is good because it shows that you can have quick thinking on the spot, this tells the director when their is something wrong that you can adapt to things if anything changes at all. Next it shows you can deliver a natural performance, by doing this if in a musical or play and a actor goes wrong you can immediately fix it and help them so they do not feel scared. Finally improvisation shows that you can help the cast if anything goes wrong and improv lets the actors on stage makes them listen in case anything goes wrong.
