Week 1 :
Monday 9th December:
Monday morning at 9:30am we had Steph for our acting lessons, however we first had the library manger come in for a talk on how to do Harvard referencing to help us know what to put in our essay. Then we did a start on Musical theatre where we did a warm up for physical and then we did a vocal warm up after this, we had a look at the musical where we did “Oliver” and in this we all mainly focused on the type of accent that was in it and that was a “London accent” so me and Amber are originally from London so we got to teach everyone how to pronounce the certian words properly. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we came back and did project work for the rest of the afternoon till 4:30pm.
Wednesday 10th December :
Wednesday 10th December we had Jess for our course work lesson at 9:30am where we all carried on with our course work for project 2 till 11am. Then we had independent study time from 11am till 12:30pm. Next we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had Ambition Hub where we started on our next dance “It’s a wonderful life”. We finished at 3pm.
Thursday 11th December :
Thursday morning we had Steph for our tutorial lesson from 9:30am till 11am. After this we had Eric for singing where we got to go into individual groups, and practice for a how we progressed through the year for next week, I was in a group with Alex, Amber, Rose and Tamara. After this we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had independent study then we went home at 4:30pm.
Week 2:
Monday 16th December:
Monday 16th December it was our project 2 performance day! At 9:30am we did lighting for our performance before doing a run through of the show with lights before the dress rehearsal show in the afternoon. Once we did the lights we did as much of a run through we can do. Then we went for lunch from 12:30pm till 1:20pm so we can be backstage before the audience comes in so we are all prepared for our dress rehearsal. We did the show from 1:30pm till 3pm. After the show we got feedback from Emma on our individual performances, then we had a our break from 3:15pm till 4pm. After our break we did the second show at 5pm in front of family and friends. Then we finished at 5:30pm and went home.
Wednesday 18th December:
Wednesday morning at 9:30am we had Steph for our course work lesson as Jess was injured so we had Steph to cover for us. We then finished at 11pm. After this we had independent study time from 11am till 12:30pm. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had our annual performing arts Christmas party we had this from 1:30pm till 3pm.
Thursday 19th December :
Thursday morning we had Steph for our tutorial lesson where we did our coursework, so we can get our dance done. After this we had our singing lesson with Eric where we practiced our songs from last week and showed them to the class. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we watched the level 2 and 3 first performance “The Crucible” I think it was really good because, they all portrayed there roles incredibly and made the plot how Steph described it before the show!
Week 3 :
This week we was not in at all due to the weather conditions. However we did have a ambition hub meeting and given work to do!

Historical context:
Q1. How did ballet evolve from its origins in the Italian Renaissance courts to the classical ballet we recognize today?
The origins in the Italian Renaissance courts is very classical on many shows we recognize today, they transformed in so many centuries for example. The main one in Italy was in the 15th century, it was performed in social events with a mix of music and poetry. However Ballet was developed in France in the 17th century, ballet began to move from court to a more formalized dance form and technique. In the late 19th century and early 20th century they created the most famous performances today like “The sleeping beauty” and “The Nutcracker” and finally “Swan lake” this was choreographed by Marius Petipa and Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky.
Cultural Influence :
Q2. What role does ballet play in different cultures, and how have non-Western influences shaped modern ballet styles?
Ballet has played in different cultures across the European countries. In Chinese ballet, they mainly focus on the hand movements in classical dance. Next Japanese dance in ballet has been inspired by the Kabuki and Noh theatre this has inspired them because it gives them the expressive and theatrical part of ballet. However non – western styles focus on Contempoary globalized ballet, in this they focus on improvisation which is encouraged a lot in African dance it contracts with the style of ballet.
Technique and Training :
Q3. What are the key physical and mental challenges faced by ballet dancers during training, and how they overcame them?
The main physical challenges that ballet dancers go through is Injury prevention, the challenge of this is that dancers have to be extra careful on injuries like sprains and stress factures to over come this they do a proper warm up and cool down plus strength and conditioning and they require a lot of physical therapy. The mental challenges they go through is performance anxiety, this is a main problem in ballet this comes to dancing in front of large audiences to over come this they meditation and breathing exercises, however the main next one is Body image issues this is a big a big challenge to dancers because ballet dancers need a certian body type and how tall they need to be and it will be a big impact on self – esteem and to overcome this they would do is in a growing of diversity in ballet, mental health is more supportive in self -acceptance and will be more involved in the training.
Famous figures:
Q4. Who are some of the most influential figures in ballet history, and how did they contribute to the art form?
The most influenced choreographers for ballet is Jean – Georges Norverre, he contributed to this by being expressive, emotional and theatrical he is known as “father of modern ballet”. The next choreographer that influences dancers is Marius Pepita, he contributed to this by being a French choreographer where he worked mainly in Russia who worked on the most important figures in classical ballet he choreographed the most famous ballet shows today like Swan lake and the Nutcracker.
Science and Ballet:
Q5. How does the science of biomechanics contribute to understanding and improving ballet performance?
Biomechanics is a main contribute to ballet because it shows the way the ballet dancer is in class. The main one is posture this is essential to prevent injuries this will ensure the dancers graceful and stable positions without injuring your muscles or joints. Next the main one is balance because, it is really important to do positions on point and executing turns, to do this dancers can learn to improve there ability to control and maintain positions.
Week 4 :
Monday 13th January:
Monday at 9:30am we got introduced to screen Yorkshire to get an introduction on what we are doing this week. We then got put into our and I was in a group with Amber Drewery, Hannah Grace, Jack Blissitt, Jemma Fisher, Leon Nelson, Noah Fairweather, Shante Thomas, Zighem Zinedine and Kymberliegh – Rain French.Then we went on a break from 11am – 11:15am. After the break we came back and got given 2 cards of the type of emotions on our film that it can be applied to. After this we got given a piece of paper so we can brain storms ideas down and we did this for about a hour. We finally figured out what we wanted to do in the end. Our plan was that we had was we have a stalker and two victims who are being stalked in a high school. The actors who played the character was Leon was the stalker, Amber was victim 1 and I was victim 2. Then we got to go to lunch at 1pm till 2pm. After lunch we had a deep brief on what is going to happen in the afternoon. In the afternoon we did a plan out on what we were going to do on Tuesday and then we all went home at 4pm.
Tuesday 14th January:
Tuesday morning at 9:30am we had a deep brief of a plan on what is happening for the morning. Most groups was still planning, however my group was planning on doing the filming today so then we can also give ourselves an extra day of editing as our is a horror film. Then we had a break from 11am till 11:15am. After break we started to do a rehearsal on our film before our director has come in. Then we had a lunch break from 1-2pm. After lunch we started finding places that would be great to film, we then found our spots and started filming each scenes we did retake a few scenes as some of our spots did not quite work out. We then finished filming and went home at 4pm.
Wednesday 15th January:
Wednesday morning at 10am we had another deep brief plan as some of the other groups has not filmed yet but our group has. However when we started the day, we re did a lot of re takes as we looked back at a lot of scenes we did not like so we just did a retake and also had photography to help us with our poster for to put in the end of the film. We had lunch from 1-2pm. And looked back at our film and did do a bit more filming. Then we all went home at 4pm.
Thursday 16th January:
Thursday morning we had another deep brief on what we are doing today. Then we just did editing for the rest of the day till 4pm.
Friday 17th January :
Friday morning was award day and we started at 10am. In the morning we watched all the films till 12pm. Then we had a break from 12pm till 1:15pm. After lunch we had the awards ceremony. My group got second place for the overall winners then we did get 1st place for other awards is well. Then we went home at 4pm.
Week 5:
Monday 20th January:
Monday at 9:30am we had started on our pitch and proposal presentation for next Wednesday. We then did this most of the morning, the reason we did this today is because all of us can have help from Steph as for most of us it is the first time doing a presentation for FMP. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had a look at what type of roles there are in the play but also production roles so we can put what type of character role and production role then we went home at 4:30pm.
Wednesday 22nd January:
Wednesday morning at 9:30am we had coursework lesson till 11pm,where we started finishing of our power points but also started on some FMP coursework. Then we had independent study from 11pm till 12:30pm. After independent study we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had Ambition hub, this week we started on Shakespeare, where we did loads of games and most of it was related to the play we are going to be doing. We then went home at 3pm.
Thursday 23rd January:
Thursday morning at 9:30am we had Steph for our tutorial lesson but we just carried on with our presentations so they are ready for Wednesday. Next we had Eric for singing and we learnt a new song, our aim this term is to learn two songs before FMP. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had Jess for dance where we had our first ballet lesson, however we got halfway through our ballet lesson and then there was a gas leak in college so we had to go out of the building and then we all went home at 2:30pm.
Week 6 :
Monday 27th January :
Monday morning at 9:30am we had Steph for our acting lesson. However we was have our pitch and proposal presentation on Wednesday 29th January so we were all finishing of our presentation. We did have lunch break at 12:30pm till 1:30pm . We did this all day till 4:30pm.
Wednesday 29th January :
Wednesday morning at 9:30am we had Jess for our coursework lesson. where we did a finishing of four our pitch’s presentation. Next we had our presentation with Jenny for our FMP. This was from 11pm till 12:30pm. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 2pm, however I had a student council meeting for the disability team and we were deciding on a name for our group. Then I went back to my group at 2pm and we went over to Trinity green to do a Ambition Hub master class, in this master class we did sport and the other group was digital. The first thing we did we went to the dance studio and did a game called “floor is laver” and we did it with hula hoops, after this we went to go paly rugby. Next we went to go to the sports haul and did wheelchair rugby and then we went home at 4pm .
Thursday 30th January :
Thursday morning we had Steph for our tutorial lesson where we just finished off our proposal for our deadline next week. Next we had our singing lesson where we was practicing the song “A reason”. We did this from 11am till 12:30pm. After this we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had dance for the first half of our lesson we did Ballet for our technique lesson. Finally we learned our dance audition for FMP next week called “footless”.

Week 7 :
Monday 3rd February:
Monday morning at 9:30am we had Steph for our acting technique lesson where we was practicing our acting audition for the Monday 10th February. We did this till 12:30pm. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we came back and practiced the dance audition as some people was not there last Thursday to be taught it so I taught the class as also a recap. We did this till 4:30pm.
Wednesday 5th February:
Wednesday morning at 9:30am we had Joe for our coursework lesson as Jess was off ill we had him till 11am. Then we had independent study from 11am till 12:30pm, in this time I practiced my singing and dancing audition so it is clean for the actual audition but then I did also caught up with some coursework. Then we had more independent study time as Steph and Jess was both ill so we had till 3pm to do anything for our FMP audition or coursework. We then went home at 3pm.
Thursday 6th February: Audition day
Thursday morning we had Sarah for our tutorial lesson where we planned out our day as we only have our singing audition because Jess was not in. So at the begging of our lesson we planned out how are day is going to be, the plan we made is that we would do a physical warm up which is me and rose, next we are doing a focus warm up which Ashely and Amber are doing. We then had our singing auditions with Eric at 11am. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had dance where we did our plan of what we did this morning from 1:30pm till 4:30pm.
Week 8:
Monday 10th February:
Monday morning I was in the hospital for a appointment but came back in the afternoon to do the acting audition. At 1:30pm we all came back in the studio for a recap on what everyone did in the morning. We then read through act one of the script with the stage directions. After act one we had a break from 2:45pm till 3pm. At 3pm me and my group had our audition and this lasted till 3:15pm. After our audition we read through all of act two and this lasted till 4:30pm and then they went home.

Wednesday 12th January:
Wednesday morning at 9:30am I had coursework lesson in this lesson I started on my research FMP and finished off the Project 3 coursework. Then for the rest of the day we had independent study then we went home at 3pm.
Thursday 13th January:
Thursday morning at 9:30am we had our dance audition but before that we had done a warm up and some technique lesson. Then we had learned a new part before the audition which we have not been marked on but just learned it because of how much time we had before our lesson and then carried on with the audition. Then we filmed our audition. Next we had singing lesson at 11am but instead of actually singing we put down songs that we can do in the play so then we know what type of plans we need to do. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we did independent study all afternoon till 4:30pm.
Week 9 :
Monday 24th Febuary :
Monday morning we had Jess at 9:30am for our acting lesson in this lesson we did a read through of our script and breaking down for songs to put in so we know what type of dances we need to put in and any sort of scenes we have to cut out if we think that scene fits in with the others, we did this till 12:30pm. Then we had lunch from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. After lunch we had Sara and we did our coursework in this lesson some people finished of there project 3 work and I started my FMP research. Then we went home at 4:30pm.
