{"id":461,"date":"2024-04-22T13:59:01","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T12:59:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10681127\/?page_id=461"},"modified":"2024-04-29T14:35:08","modified_gmt":"2024-04-29T13:35:08","slug":"project-3-task-1-part-2-youtube-monetisation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10681127\/project-3-task-1-part-2-youtube-monetisation\/","title":{"rendered":"Project 3, Task 1, Part 2 &#8211; Monetisation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The YouTube partnership program (YPP) allows creators to earn revenue from adverts as well as giving them access to more youtube resources, support, and monetisation features. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To join the program, a creator would need either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1000 subscribers and 4000 valid public watch hours in the past 12 months<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1000 subscribers and 10 million valid public short views in the past 90 days <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Creators also need to meet this criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Follow the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/1311392\">YouTube Channel Monetisation Policies<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Live in a country\/region&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/7101720\">where the YouTube Partner Programme is available<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have no active&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/2802032\">Community Guidelines strikes<\/a>&nbsp;on your channel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/myaccount.google.com\/signinoptions\/two-step-verification\/enroll-welcome\">two-step verification<\/a>&nbsp;is turned on for your Google Account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have access to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/9890437\">advanced features<\/a>&nbsp;on YouTube.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have one active&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/11602441\">AdSense for YouTube account<\/a>&nbsp;linked to your channel or be ready to set one up in YouTube Studio if you don&#8217;t already have one (only create a new AdSense for YouTube account in YouTube Studio \u2013&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/9914702\">learn more<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Over the last few years, YouTube has taken steps to strengthen the requirements for monetisation so that spammers, impersonators and other bad actors can&#8217;t hurt the ecosystem or take advantage of good creators producing high-quality content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply for membership in YPP, channels must meet eligibility thresholds related to watch time and subscribers. Following application, YouTube&#8217;s review team ensures that the channel has not gone against YouTube&#8217;s monetisation, content and copyright policies. Only channels that meet eligibility thresholds and follow all of our guidelines will be admitted to the programme, which makes them eligible to receive access to ads and other monetisation products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/intl\/ALL_uk\/howyoutubeworks\/policies\/monetization-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8211; YouTube: &#8216;How YouTube Works&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>However, how much a creator will earn isn&#8217;t a set amount or estimate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>There are no guarantees under the YouTube partner agreement about how much or whether you&#8217;ll be paid. Earnings are generated based on a share of advertising revenue from viewers watching your video. <\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/72902?hl=en&amp;sjid=7059494824615479671-NA#zippy=%2Chow-do-i-earn-revenue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">YouTube<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Contrary to popular belief, YouTube revenue is not earned through each view, but instead, is <em>pay per ad view<\/em>.  There are also other factors tat effect these rates, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Watch-through rate<\/strong>. If a viewer watches less than 30 seconds of the ad, it won\u2019t count as a view.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>. YouTube\u2019s CPM (cost per thousand impressions) varies per region. If you\u2019re in, say, Norway, you\u2019ll likely get paid more than if you\u2019re in, say, the United States.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Industry<\/strong>. YouTube\u2019s CPM varies by industry. You could get paid more if you\u2019re making content for the stock market than the pet industry, for example.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Available ad formats<\/strong>. Different ad types tend to net better views and different CPMs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Competition<\/strong>. If advertisers are competing with each other, the bidding process for YouTube ads is going to be higher, resulting in a higher CPM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>YouTube pays you for the amount of ad views your video gets. If your video has a million views but no advertising on it, you won\u2019t be making any money. If your video has a million views but only 10,000 ad views, you\u2019ll be making money only on the 10,000 ad views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>YouTube makes money off the advertising space, so they will pay based on how much exposure your video generates&nbsp;<em>for&nbsp;<\/em>that advertising space.<\/p>\n<cite><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hootsuite.com\/how-much-does-youtube-pay-per-view\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hootsuite<\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure id=\"tablepress-118\" class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>YouTube revenue by ad views<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>YouTube revenue per 10K views<\/td><td>$100 &#8211; 300<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>YouTube revenue per 100K views<\/td><td>$1,000 &#8211; 3,000<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>YouTube revenue per 500K views<\/td><td>$5,000 &#8211; 15,000<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>YouTube revenue per million views<\/td><td>$10,000 &#8211; 30,000<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Rough estimate of revenue made, if calculated by, <em>per ad view.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure id=\"tablepress-119\" class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>YouTube revenue by video views<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>YouTube revenue per 10K views<\/td><td>$50 &#8211; 70<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>YouTube revenue per 100K views<\/td><td>$500 &#8211; 700<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>YouTube revenue per 500K views<\/td><td>$2,500 &#8211; 3,500<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>YouTube revenue per million views<\/td><td>$5,000 &#8211; 7,000<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Rough estimate of revenue made, if calculated by, <em>per video view.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On top of this, creators must meet a minimum of $100 (\u00a380.65) before they are able to withdraw the money, and creators won&#8217;t receive their money until a month after requesting to payout (e.g. earning $100 in January means you won&#8217;t get hold of the until the end of February). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Check payments for your previous month&#8217;s earnings are issued between the 21st and the 26th of the month and can take&nbsp;<strong>as long as four weeks<\/strong>&nbsp;to arrive at your payment address.<\/p>\n<cite><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/youtube\/answer\/7164703?hl=en#zippy=%2Celectronic-funds-transfer-eft%2Ccheck\" target=\"_blank\"><em>YouTube Help<\/em><\/a><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no fixed amount that YouTubers are set to make, as many different factors come into play, such as ad types, ad blockers, ad watch time, engagement, and channel popularity. However, there are rough estimates on how much a creator could make if these factors weren&#8217;t involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>So, as per the data from YouTube creators, the answer to the question&nbsp;<strong>\u201cHow much money does 1 million YouTube views make?\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;is around $1,700 &#8211; $30,000 for each video with 1 million views. <\/p>\n<cite><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/freshlearn.com\/blog\/how-much-money-does-1-million-youtube-views-make\/#what-are-the-factors-impacting-youtubers-pay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FreshLearn<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><em>So, If your channel has videos with competitive keywords and if people don&#8217;t use ad blockers to bypass ads, you could make six times as much from ads:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1,000 Views:&nbsp;<\/strong>If a YouTube channel gets 1,000 ad views, it typically earns $1.5 &#8211; $30, with an average of $15 across all industries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>100,000 Views:&nbsp;<\/strong>Reaching 100,000 ad views can typically earn $150 &#8211; $3,000, averaging $1,500. Hence, with 100,000 daily ad views, you might make around $45,000 monthly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>10,00,000 Views:&nbsp;<\/strong>If your YouTube channel hits 1 million ad views, you can earn $1,700 &#8211; $30,000, with an average of $15,000 across all industries and niches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, YouTube announced they would be starting a mini version of the YPP, where creators could have earlier access to the program features and funding, such as fan-funding, certain shopping features, and channel memberships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To join this smaller version of the program, you would need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/support-kms-prod\/0cWoEF4kRGhnfZJlNZY8MSJbml2T3Pi50uWs\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Once you\u2019re in YPP, you can start your earning journey with fan funding and Shopping features.
