Tracy Martin is a photographer and filmmaker based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She specialises in headshots, dance and theatre and her work has been published in major newspapers and theatre magazines.
Tracy Martin did a Projection Project which explores how different people grapple with their own identity, experiences, fears and dreams. She asked people to write something/anything personal in a sketchbook before photographing what they wrote to then project it back onto them. Martin describes it as an exploration of light and expression as she intended for the images to reflect the sentiment of the content the models wrote about.

All of the photos in Tracy Martins projection project are low-key black and white/greyscale photos with black backgrounds. The artist may have chosen to use such dark backgrounds- as well as the models wearing dark colours- for practicality, as projections are easier to see against dark backgrounds rather than light ones.

Overall, I like the look of Tracy Martins work, and I think each of the photos could be important to the photographer and even the model in their own personal ways. If I were to do this type of photography, I feel I would try to make each image slightly more unique and different by maybe making the model hold or possibly even wear something important to them.
