Plan:
For this shoot based on Olly Moss’s work, I want to attempt to mimic his use of silhouettes in his vibrant and graphic work. I chose the words ‘exploring’, ‘alone’ and ‘curiosity’ from my mind-map to help me decide what I want my final outcome of this shoot to show.
I want the final result of this shoot to look like a reimagined version of a scene in the beginning of the novel where Coraline is exploring the new house she is living in and the grounds around it. Because I feel that this is one of the most creative ideas I have had so far, I am going to use the best image from this shoot as my Final Piece.
My plan is to create a small, simple well (one which Coraline comes across while she is exploring) out of paper and make it look like it is popping up out of a book. The things I will use to do this are a normal book, along with paper with the passage off the novel which has inspired this shoot printed on it.
this is another one of my shoots that is going to be split into multiple parts so I end up with a composite image, using photos taken in different places at different times.
I am going to carry out the first shoot using the book in the studio and photograph someone walking. This will also be done in the studio and I will use the models silhouette to act as Coraline walking towards the well.
I want ‘Coraline’ to be a silhouette so the viewer of the photo can imagine how the character might be feeling in that passage of the novel. I feel this would make it easier for them to visualise themselves as the character as a silhouette is more generic than an actual character.

The reason I have added tree branches is because I noticed that a number of Olly Moss’s works involve the use of trees, which add more detail to the posters he puts together, like how he used branches as the stripes on a tiger in a poster for The Jungle Book.
