In the early 1980’s English painter David Hockney began creating intricate photo collages that he called ‘Joiners’. In earlier collages he started off using polariod photographs to make a full image with a grid-like composition. He then switched to photo lab processed 35mm prints which created collages with more abstract representations of the scenes he had photographed.

My initial thoughts on this technique are that it is really cool as I think a lot can be done with it depending on what is photographed and how.
