I used a piece of A4 paper and ripped out letters and patterns from different newspapers, magazines and leaflets to create a collage that links to the theme of one of my photoshoots. I chose to spell out the word ‘train’ so I could scan it and overlay the collage over a picture from my public transport shoot.
I chose to edit my collage with the same picture twice. One of them had both the photo and collage in black & white, whilst the other one had only the photo in black & white and the collage in colour.
I ended up liking the one with the collage in colour more as I think it makes the words and patterns stand out more against the mostly grey and black background behind it. I also like how the map in the bottom left corner can be seen more because it links to the theme of journeys and travel.
