Long Exposure Road Shoot

I went to the top of the Red Bridge in Bradford at night and took pictures of cars driving past from above. I did this using a tripod to keep the camera still and an exposure time of 10-20 seconds for each photo. The whole shoot ended up taking me about and hour as I needed to wait for enough cars to build up behind me on the other side and underneath the bridge each time I started taking an image so they could all be seen going past for the whole exposure time.

This is one of the best pictures I took from the top of the bridge as it is the only one where every car is moving as in most of the other photos, some cars had stopped. I cropped it at the top so there wasn’t too much dark, empty space. I then adjusted the curves and colour balance in the image to make the road look more grey instead of brown due to the warmer coloured steetlights.

I did the same editing for this picture except I didn’t crop it. I like how there is some exposure on some of the vehicles that had stopped in this image as they look kind of see-through.

This is a photo that I took from the same angle, except all the cars were moving to create the long, straight streaks of red light that I wanted. All I did to edit this picture was increase the vibrance and saturation as this one has lots of red and I wanted to make sure the colour stood out.
