Fine Art Photography

What is it?

My chosen specialist industry practice is Fine Art photography. Fine Art photography is a style of photography created by an artist. Fine art photos are typically created purely for their aesthetic and imaginative qualities. Sometimes, artists use photography as a medium to express an innovative idea, emotion or message which is unique to them.

Careers:

While some may choose to practice Fine Art photography simply as a hobby, it is something that can be turned into a source of income through a variety of different ways. Some ways to turn Fine Art photography into a career are:

COMMISSIONS- Photographers offering Fine Art photography in their own unique style as recently, people have been more open to having conceptual photography done now- for portraits of themselves, for children and new-borns to celebrate different events.

COLLABORATIONS- Collaborating with brands is an excellent way to create connections in the Fine Art photography business as it allows work to be exhibited on things such as social media platforms for other companies who may want to do a collaboration to review.

How to get into Fine Art Photography:

Higher education isn’t required to pursue Fine Art photography as it is a wide genre of art which can be approached in many different ways, depending on the photographer and what their artistic goals or visions are. However, many still choose to take classes/go on courses to acquire a level of technical knowledge regarding subjects such as lighting, exposure, the use of lenses and more. Additionally, this provides an opportunity to gain experience, build portfolios and allow their work to gain exposure to prospective clients. They also get trained on how to use picture editing software.
