I experimented with effects like detuning and layering sounds, and I tried different instrument packs in Ableton to match the vibe of the Metroid series. I also got help from tutors like Lewis and Pawel when I felt stuck, which helped me push forward.
I started testing AI tools like AIVA and LANDR, but I quickly realised they weren’t that great for the kind of horror/sci-fi sound I wanted. I also created my website (crmusic.co.uk) and started my Bluesky account to promote the project and get it out there.

Feelings
I was feeling creative during this time, especially when I was deep into Ableton and finding new ways to build tension in a track. But I also started feeling tired and a bit stuck creatively, it was harder to keep going without a proper break. It was also a bit annoying when the AI tools didn’t work as I hoped, because I thought they’d do more of the work.

Evaluation
What went well:

I finished and mixed the Title Theme and made good progress on Track 2.

I used Ableton tools in new ways and kept pushing my sound design.

I launched my website and started social media promotion.

I got feedback and support when I needed it.

What didn’t go well:

I felt burnt out from working on music for too many days in a row.

The AI tools didn’t produce anything close to what I needed.

LANDR gave me issues with logging in and mastering at times.

Analysis
This block made me realise how important it is to balance creative work with rest. I pushed myself hard with the tracks, and while the music came out well, I hit a wall creatively. I also learned that AI tools are limited, they don’t understand mood or tone well. They help master or extend MIDI, but not for full tracks in my genre.
I also started thinking more seriously about how I present my music, which is why building the website was a big step for me. Having one place to show all my work made it feel more real and professional.

Conclusion
Even though this section had a few setbacks, I still made solid progress. I finished more than I thought I would, and I stayed on track with my timeline, although I had to change my original plan. The main thing I need to take from this is to watch out for burnout and use AI tools for support, not shortcuts.

Action Plan

Don’t overwork, break up heavy production days with lighter tasks.

Use AI for small things like mastering or ideas, not full tracks.

Keep adding to the website and improving my online presence.

Start planning how each track links to a scene or visual idea

Reflection: Weeks 5–8Track Development, AI Testing & Promotion (Gibbs Reflective Cycle) DescriptionIn this part of the project, I spent most of my time making the Title Theme and starting work on other tracks.
