In the first rehearsal we did together, all of us were just learning the song. Because of this, my performance doesn’t have much to it, and I only had a basic drum beat down. I haven’t played in a band before, so this was a new experience, which means with time I will get better at timing and dynamics as I continue with the others. I like the drum beat I use, and I used my lunch time with Marcel to create one that fit the song. I will be practicing on my free time and at home so I can perfect the drums in this cover.
The second rehearsal was a lot better than the first one. This time, we can play through the whole song with a few mistakes, and the ones I made may be minor, but I can still hear them. I need to practice my fills more and I think I need to work on transitioning from the verse to chorus, and make sure that my chorus beat remains with the same amount of kicks each bar. I aim to keep practicing so that I can keep the band in time.
