This week I have begun work on the actual song itself while not forgetting to document my thoughts and the process along the way. Progress may be slow but I am glad that I have begun work on the actual instruments, and after (no kidding here) seventeen times of asking Evan and Lewis what’s wrong with Ableton, I am slowly becoming more used to fixing problems as I have been observing them solve them for me. On Monday though, me and Evan had a roughly 2 hour problem with no MIDI output at all, but now that it is Tuesday at the time of writing, it has been working just fine.
I currently have produced two different instruments with two different patterns due to one being a more saw-like synth and one being a deep bass. I hope to produce drums soon for these to see where I can lead with said instruments and see what I like more. Otherwise, documentation has being going fine, and I will be doing some research into techno music as I carry on with this project.
Over the course of this week it was mostly debating how to make the song sound less cluttered overtime.
Though, I did fire up an emulation of Sonic Riders at the weekend to test and see how the music acted in game and it seemed that the music liked to focus and unfocus whether you were doing well or not. I like this aspect because it really drives you further when doing well – the music stays loud to hear it and you want to push through. For my piece I’m not aiming for the fastest BPM, so I don’t need this aspect, but it was fun nethertheless even with all the falling off the stage I did.
