Overall, I’m happy with how this look went. I know that theatre isn’t my strong suit but I think I created a look that could work on stage. The old age makeup went well I think. I made sure my model made lots of different facial expressions with eyebrows raised, face scrunched up, smiling and others. I think this worked because the contour in those areas sat in the lines so when she moved her face they moved with it. I think the eyeliner was a little uneven but I can definitely see an improvement. I added white just to the waterline but didn’t go further down because I wanted her eyes to look a bit smaller like a mean old woman who always glares at people. I had to add more cotton under the wig at the hairline because you could still see the base of the wig and some of the strap because of the large gaps in the wefts. I think the wig looks good with the makeup. It definitely gives the cloud appearance I wanted. There was still some parts of the base showing but from far away they’re not too noticeable, especially if the actor was moving around a lot like they would be in a musicaal. At the end I was told to add some more age makeup to the neck since the dress was off the shoulder and lower down. I added some brown spots on the neck and chest to give the appearance of sun spots.
If I were to do it again, I’d use a different wig or buy some extra wefts. I’d also learn to make wigs from scratch so that I could make a custom one to fit my model’s head and I could cut it into the perfect shape, as well as making it with thicker wefts so that it could be sturdier for theatre. In the future, I’ll also get a different gel eyeliner because the one I currently have is very dry which makes it patchy and hard to apply. I’ll also practice more and if I had more experience with theatre I’d adjust it to the specific lighting.
