Practice 1
I don’t like how the first practice went. I struggled a lot with the symmetry, mainly with the pearls on the cheeks and the eyeliner. As well as not being symmetrical, the eyeliner was messy because my hands were shaking. I struggled with applying the pearls. The foundation wasn’t going on properly and kept separating, especially around the forehead. This can happen because of chemicals mixing together. This could have been because my model’s skin was more oily or dry than usual that day. This can also happen if you use a foundation with a different base to the primer. I also could have applied too much product.
I zoomed into a photo and screenshotted where the foundation separating is most noticeable
For my final look, I plan on using gold rhinestones instead of pearls, but they hadn’t been delivered and there was only pearls in college at the time. For my next practice, I’ll improve symmetry by placing one pearl/gem on one side of the face then placing another of the same size on the other side instead of applying them all at once and trying to do the same on the other side. I’ll also create guidelines with a white eyeliner pencil to be more precise.
Practice 2
For this practice, I wanted to focus on the 2 main issues with the last practice, which were the eyeliner and placement of gems/pearls. I used an eyeliner spoolie because it has a finer tip than my eyeliner brush in my kit which I felt was easier.
I think this practice went a lot better than the last. Although still not perfect, the symmetry of the pearls has significantly improved from the first practice. I applied them differently, following the shape of the cheekbone and placing 3 pearls per row, using smaller pearls on each row than the last. The eyeliner is more symmetrical and cleaner. For my assessment, I think I’ll use either a brown liner on the waterline or none at all so it looks more natural.
