Visual style: static camera; natural, realistic lighting; small sets

Sound & Music: informal, comedic dialogue; intro jingle; exaggerated sound effects on objects; voices echoing on walls

Structure: fast transitions, natural pacing

Scene types: realistic settings like military offices and trains; heavy dialogue; mix of education and comedy

Character types: narrator; stupid people in positions of power but sound smart with another character who speaks more straight forward but is actually smart

Inspiration: balance between comedy and educational; palatable to wide range of people, Cunk on Earth interview style, talking heads

Historical research- 1939-1945

September 1st 1939 to 2nd September 2nd 1945 covers the second world war. For my research, I’m going to focus on tings happening inn the UK and more locally in Yorkshire.

War Announcement

On 3rd September 1939 at 11:15, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain announced that the UK was going to war with Germany in a 5 minute broadcast.

Prior to this, the House of Commons had met both days prior. On the 1st at 6pm, 18 emergency and war provision bills that received the Royal Assent not long before midnight.

The 2nd of September was incredibly busy for parliament, meeting at 2.45pm with Sir John Simon, Chancellor of the Exchequer. However, due to developments in Italy, the statement had to be delayed. The second reading of war measures lasted until 6:20
