Project 1 Final Look

I did Maleeka’s skincare, using a cleanser, toner and moisturizer for dry skin. I then used a hydrating primer and gave it a minute to settle into the skin. I started with the eyes, using a light concealer underneath her eyebrows as a base. I used a dark green eyeshadow, making sure to press it into the skin so it’s more pigmented than the practice. I blended that out with a fluffier brush then used eye makeup remover on a cotton bud to cut the crease just above the natural crease of her eyelid. After that, I used the same concealer I used before and neatened up the crease and put it down as a base on the eyelid I took a lighter, more yellow green and filled the space on her lid, again pressing down so it looks more vibrant. Once I’d finished the eyeshadow I used a concealer slightly lighter than the foundation and a small amount of orange colour corrector under her eyes and blended it out. I added powder on top and did dark green and lighter green eyeshadow under the eyes. Once I I blended it out, I added black eyeliner to her lower and upper lash line and smudged it with my finger, sanitising my hands again before. I then started the base, using a foundation close to her skin tone. It wasn’t exact so I planned to use a lighter concealer to even it out. I contoured her cheekbones, forehead, jawline and her nose where the sides of the nose meet the browbone and the sides of the tip of her nose and blended it out. I then used a lighter concealer on her forehead and nose as well as her chin. I think I also should have highlighted under the contour on her cheekbones and the centre of her face. I used a yellow grease paint as blush on her cheeks and forehead, making sure to make it very subtle because using too much can make her look sick. I used a brown lip liner and made it thicker on the outer corners. I applied a liquid lipstick with a disposable lip wand then used a brush to help it cover the lips. I think the liner could have been neater so I plan on working on that in the future.

Once I’d finished the main makeup on the face, I started on the hair. I parted Maleeka’s hair with a tailcomb once I’d brushed it out and put a claw clip in the bottom section. I brushed mousse through the top part of the hair to make it easier to style. I’d forgotten to get bobbles so I had to go back and get some from the cupboard. In the future I’ll double check I have everything before I start. I tied it into a ponytail, using a bristle brush to help make the hair go in neatly. Once the hair was in a ponytail, I used some gel to help it lay flat around the hairline. I then tied the hair into a messy bun with another bobble and left part of the hair out, sticking upwards. I separated the spikes with gel. I checked with Maleeka If she has asthma before spraying the spikes, holding my hand behind them so they wouldn’t bend backwards from the pressure of the spray. I think the spikes were falling to the side a bit so I tried to pin them in but it didn’t really help.

Once I finished the hair I added the finishing touches to the makeup. I added some light green glitter to her eyelids with vaseline on a brush. I think I should’ve added more glitter to the right eye because it wasn’t as noticeable as I wanted it to be. I then added mascara on the lashes with spoolies and added some under the eyes, swiping across the skin with a spoolie. I only put powder on the forehead and chin since I wanted the finish to be more natural rather than matte. I added some glycerine to her forehead with a brush. I tried to use my finger to blend it but it didn’t look as natural as I wanted so for the rest of the face I used a brush for brows and flicked it so it looked like natural drops of sweat on the face. I added more under the eyes and on the chin since that’s where people tend to sweat more.

Once I was done, I showed Jasmin the finished look and she said to blend the makeup down into the neck and on the ears so I did. I think I should have blended even further down the neck.

I removed the makeup with micellar water and eye makeup remover on the eyes. I used face tape to remove the glitter on her eyes. I then moisturised to prevent her skin from drying out from the micellar water. I was going to wash her hair but she said she just wanted me to brush it out so I did, removing as much product as I could with the brush.

Overall, I’m really pleased with how the look went. I think the colours worked well and the base was good. I think I should have maybe brushed the eyebrows because I didn’t do anything else with them.
