My final look for the first project will be based around the album Brat by Charli XCX. The album has a lot of rave influences, so my look will reflect the messy, chaotic nature of rave culture and the vibrant colours often worn by rave-goers in their clothes and makeup. I want to use the iconic green (hex code #8ACE00) as the main colour. Originally I was planning on making the look monochromatic but changed my mind as I found creating an entire look with just bright green too limiting. I instead decided to create an analogous look with blue, green and yellow but changed that too because I realised it wasn’t a true analogous colour scheme. The look will be aimed to fit in an editorial setting, specifically the cover of a magazine like GQ or Rolling Stone as they are known for having more creative covers. I also want to take inspiration from the 90s since that’s when rave culture blew up. I also want my look to reference the ‘party girl’ aesthetic popularised by celebrities like Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton.
Moodboard
For my moodboard, I included photos that fit the inspirations and themes of my look. I also added notes to give more explanation for the photos.
Designs
I did my face and hair charts on Procreate.
First face chart
Originally I was planning on doing a monochrome look but as I was doing the face chart, I found purely using green too limiting and didn’t like how the eye looked so I changed my idea.
Second face chart
I tried an analogous colour scheme of blue, green and yellow which I was happy with except for the lips. I used yellow as lush which I liked and made the eye shape more rounded, fitting of the 90s. I ended up changing it because I realised that I’d forgotten to take tertiary colours into account.
Final face chart
I kept everything from the design the same except the colour scheme, making it green, yellow-green and yellow. I tried making the lips green but it made the look too busy so I changed them to brown so that the attention was more on the eyes and the blush.
Hair design
For the hair, I’m going to do a spiky bun with half the hair and leave the rest out. I think this will add to the makeup without taking focus away.
