Working as a band, we analysed two of the songs we performed. From analysing Zombie, we learned the key it was in by identifying the notes played in each chord and figured out the order of chords from G major’s scale. Based on this, we could determine which chords were minor based on knowing that the first, fourth and fifth note or chord in any scale is major, and the second, third and sixth are minor.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I analysed the chords in ABBA’s Dancing Queen and was able to identify the key of the song based on the notes in the chords. I used the scale to double check that I wrote the chords correctly and as major and minor depending on which chord in the scale it was, knowing chords 1,4 and 5 are major and 2, 3 and 6 are minor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the exception of some variation in the chords during the chorus, this is what the guitarists played. The verse is very impactful as it follows a predominantly major tonality but includes E minor as to not continuously have a bright and happy loop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chorus shares the same chords but are played barred and are in a different order. Once the chorus is complete, Bm and D minor are the chords that bring us back into the verse before half a bar of silence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
