Experimentation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Simple drum beats<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our first task was to navigate and experiment with drum beats, learning note input, how to use the metronome and changing note duration and placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure lesson on the basics of Ableton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>General Experimentation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, I started experimenting with guitar parts in combination with a drum beat. thought were interesting and insert them into a drum rack, which was as simple as opening a drum rack like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube samples. It gave it some depth and I don&#8217;t mind how it turned out aside from the lack of complexity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10674658\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/534\/2022\/12\/sample-thing.wav\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This experimentation for me sounded dull but going through the process of choosing individual samples and creating something with it is a process I&#8217;d like to keep in mind for future projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Slicing &amp; Simplers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The concept of using a simpler was introduced to us, which allows samples to be sliced into individual parts and put into an instrument rack which has the same format as a drum rack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"263\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10674658\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/534\/2022\/12\/image-16.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10674658\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/534\/2022\/12\/image-16.png 1024w, https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10674658\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/534\/2022\/12\/image-16-300x77.png 300w, https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10674658\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/534\/2022\/12\/image-16-768x197.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I tried out manually slicing a guitar loop as an experiment and liked the idea of using this tool for percussion but decided I wasn&#8217;t fond of using it for melodic instruments as I&#8217;d prefer to manually input audio through an audio interface to create a more authentic feeling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"716\" height=\"220\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10674658\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/534\/2022\/12\/slice.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10674658\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/534\/2022\/12\/slice.png 716w, https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10674658\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/534\/2022\/12\/slice-300x92.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 716px) 100vw, 716px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I tried this again at home using Ableton Live 11 Lite so I assume it&#8217;s either the same or very close to what it would be like in college. Transferring it over to a rack is as simple as finishing slicing, right clicking and selecting slice to a rack.
