Positive:
My presentation consisted clear and relevant points on each slide in accordance to the title of the slide and the placement. It seems like it’s somewhat chronological, and each slide includes sufficient detail about various things.
The pre-planned research shows preparation and that I am thinking about the grading system and aim to fulfil the requirements for a distinction. Specifically, the research slides are relevant and will be helpful for my progress throughout, some more than others. It also provides me with small bits of research to do as I go and pages that I can refer to when seeking information about anything.
The chosen form of presentation, the split-screen video fits what I want to use it for, which is to build a portfolio. Moving forward if I do this kind of project again in my own time, I can start building a playlist which can be used to send to whoever would require this kind of portfolio work. Additionally, it sums it up nicely for this project and displays everything I will have been working on.
Aesthetically, my presentation looks professional and tidy yet still has some personality due to the non-traditional font, the consistent colour scheme and background and the tidy placement of text boxes and videos.
The vague plan in place was presented in a tidy format. I used Asana for this, since working with it in our first term this year was very helpful and easy to follow. Moving forward, I will likely use this again in a more detailed context when planning the specifics of my project, all within the pre-defined time frames.
As I recorded this instead of presenting in front of a class since I wasn’t well at the time of this task, the interaction I could have had was limited but I believe I made it somewhat interesting in the first half by using video examples of other people’s work to give some idea of what I roughly want to do, as well as an audio snippet of the song I’m covering to give some idea of the difficulty of the project.
I’m happy about putting in a slide that will be particularly useful to me, the problem prevention slide. As I know I am prone to making mistakes like those mentioned on the slide, I have put in place ‘rules’, I suppose, that I must keep on top of throughout this project, in order to not lose out or set myself back in any way. This is different to problem solving, as I am planning on preventing the issue so that it won’t have to be solved.
Negative:
On the evaluation slide, I stated what I would be evaluating but didn’t state when this would be happening. I should have included that evaluation will be done following each bit of work, as will documentation. For example, if I was recording throughout one day and had videos, photos and audio files to upload, I would be doing that the evening of the same day in order to stay on top of things, and evaluation would happen the same night. Otherwise, big parts of the project will be evaluated by week, like general progress.
My confidence while presenting this varied. There was a lot of ‘um’s and pauses, though I am happy I was comfortable with pauses as a common issue I face is rushing through my words and making nothing clear. In future, I should aim to watch how often I repeat ‘um’ as it’s really annoying and does not fill space well. Having a pause is okay if I need to think about what I’m saying next. Additionally, though I was sick, I should watch out for my clarity on everything as I slur my words sometimes and rush other times.
I really needed to work through the burn-out I was experiencing when expected to do this because the amount of time it took me to do this has set me back a week and this wasn’t a big task, though my other work is currently not behind at all and I should be fine in this case.
