Overview

Event management in music is the organisation of a series of musical performances for particular reasons. This year we’re choosing to use the showcase for promotional reasons, as we can promote ourselves, other students and the college. For us, our tasks are split between two main groups. Management and promotion mostly covers the preparation stages, while the production team’s work will mostly be on display on the night of the showcase.

The management and promotion team will work on things like marketing, budgeting (in the event we need a budget), sponsorships, branding, promotion and the director would oversee each team and ensure work is being completed and progress has been made. The production team will work on things like lighting, sound, projections, setting up the stage safely and taking it back down afterwards, safety checks and everything else that would impact the feel and quality of the performance night.

My roles are based on social media and promotion. For the social media side of things, I plan to document growth and interaction in comparison to now, prior to any re-branding and promotion. My work on promotion will be based mainly on artistic branding with things like our logo and promotional posters which can be hung around college, as well as things like teaser videos of band rehearsals a few weeks prior to the final performance and anything to do with branching out to others and spreading the word of the showcase in any way I can. I can learn more about promotion by doing a research page on past well promoted events which are on a similar scale to what we’re expecting. I also need to look into designing tickets, learning our maximum capacity before making tickets available and setting up the page we’ll use for booking tickets.

As a group, we’ll be working based on this criteria:
