Home Rehearsal

10/10/22

I played Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise to a high standard with some personal flair. There was inconsistency in the rhythm of how I performed the chorus section between the first half of the first verse and the first chorus. The duration of the notes I play match the drum’s kick and sound clean and organised. I had learnt the structure of the song in full and hence was able to add personal flair in places that felt a bit dull. In some places, the gain was too high and distorted the recording. I could change this by experimenting with how to manage volume through my audio interface and software.

I played the first note too late, but corrected it immediately after. The same problem with gain happens here as in some parts, the recording is distorted. I think I played this with a high level of accuracy as minimal mistakes were made. My tone here was appropriate for the song and is very similar to the original. No major changes occur as the mood of the song still has to be somewhat slow and sad. The chorus section was made to have slightly more energy by adding a few notes and instead of letting notes ring out, playing 4 notes per beat.
