I want to compose, record, mix and release publicly a funk rock EP in collaboration with Cody that consists of three to four songs depending on time management. The project will be under the name of The Eclipse Project for release and branding and I plan to create art for advertising and a logo for social media platforms.
I’m very inspired by Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Californication era bass and will be focusing on Flea’s style for this part. In all, I’ll be primarily responsible for bass and guitar while Cody will be focused on drums. Anything we feel we should add following the completion of these parts, like vocals or keys, would be a joint effort.
I looked at distribution for profit and I think I’d like to seriously consider releasing it for both profit and building our musical portfolio for our work outside of college as a band. Our main goal is to record and release the EP, I don’t think we’ll perform it as part of college work but rather as a band to get our music out there.
We would showcase a range of skills in this project, such as songwriting, mixing, recording (performing within the live room), problem solving in the event we encounter conflict in our ideas or come across technical problems and teamwork.
If we have time, the idea of creating music videos in relation to the lyrical topics would be interesting. It would offer opportunity to understand how good music videos are made and what should influence one.
To communicate our ideas whenever they come up, we can record audio and send the files over discord or snapchat and discuss it properly in a practice room where we can try out combine ideas.
I expect time management to be an issue if we don’t properly plan our time, so to avoid this we should properly schedule the project and start working on it as soon as possible.
