I will analyse and learn RHCP songs. I’ll take apart their songs and learn how Frusciante uses pentatonic extensions to create an interesting guitar part.
I’ll pick a few songs from various albums so there’s plenty to explore. I plan to study and document my progress in video form as a practice diary and post my research on what chords songs are based around how other instruments and parts relate to each other.

Red Hot Chili Peppers’ style has changed significantly over the years with many band members leaving and others joining. Their most popular style has been with the current band.
The original band consisted of Anthony Kiedis, Hillel Slovak, Michael Balzary (Flea) and Jack Irons in 1982. Today, both Anthony and Flea remain in the band, now joined with John Frusciante on guitar and Chad Smith as their drummer.
Their 1984 album has a completely different sound to Blood Sugar Sex Magik released in 1991, which is likely due to member changes and style development.
They’ve always mainly been a funk rock band though with some exceptions.
