Self Assessment
Context – Satisfactory
I think my research into the context behind each of the songs in Electric Blue’s set was sufficient and allowed me to perform with an emotional attachment to each. I could have looked more into context relating to graphics and the story behind the branding and art.
Research – Good
In each topic, I’ve completed at least one research page in a lot of detail. In rehearsals, I provided evidence for research into song composition and lyrical changes. A detailed setlist research page is under setlist & band introduction, which covers the context and details of how the song was created or what changed from the songs they were sampled from. Gig promotion was a research topic in which I studied multiple different logos and gig posters. Live performance analysis case studies are research into how different genres are performed and health and safety was a research topic on every common hazard for live performance and a case study relating to venue maintenance.
Practical Skills – Good
From the rehearsals displayed and the final performance, I believe a setlist of different genres (specifically punk or alternative rock) would have been more comfortable for me so my performance is altered by my comfort zone to some degree. My accuracy with timing and rhythm was good and my own additions or variations of the original song have occured due to being tested in rehearsal and sounding good in my opinion. My vocal performance wasn’t up to a standard that I’m proud of.
Evaluation and reflection – Good
My evaluations have included both positive and negative points for the group and myself with growth points and things to specifically work on noted below each video.
I can confirm that the attached assessment is all my own work and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself and sources have been appropriately referenced.
