This is the pre-recording practice to make sure we have everything ready, remember all our parts and sound good. In this video we’re practicing playing to click as some of us didn’t have any experience in that. Ultimately we decided not to play to click but it was still worth our time as it helped us determine which way we were going to record it and what we were most comfortable with.
We had an issue with not being able to hear the metronome over Gideon playing and not being able to hear it himself and leading us out of time, so we decided to try with just the three of us on guitar and bass. For the entire first half, I’d say we successfully played with minimal or no mistakes. Closer to the second chorus we played out of time but gradually came back together. I’m happy with how this turned out and I feel comfortable and confident playing alongside a metronome as I’ve done this before for recording covers and playing in a school band. As a band we would benefit from practicing this more often if we were to do this for the recording, but we chose not to.
