Project Evaluation

Was research sufficient and relevant?

My research into various topics was sufficient and relevant. I wrote about my research on mixing and recording in detail across multiple sub-categories. Additionally, I researched the history of recorded music as it gave me an idea as to how artists used to make profit in comparison to today where everything is online.

What else could I have researched?

I could have researched specific producers and their work to give me an idea of what they do as a career and I could have looked into the songwriting industry and how major artists work with songwriters.

Have I improved since last project on anything?

My time management and detail in my research has improved. I definitely feel this project is more organised than the last.

How well did I organise my work and time?

I managed to complete all of the work I planned to so I’m happy with how I organised both my work and time.

Further skill development – how do I aim to do this? Why do I plan to do this?

I need to develop my mixing skills for future projects both inside and out of college as I want to record a lot more now that I know how to use Logic to a level that is efficient and I understand how to do most things that I want to do.

What did I enjoy about this project?

I enjoyed the research most, I enjoyed looking into recording and mixing techniques in detail as I could actively apply my knowledge to the project.

What did I dislike about this project?

I disliked recording as a band. I think it would be much easier to record different parts myself or record it in the way I prefer, so in the future I would definitely want to work alone or with one other person who will listen to my suggestions.

Has this project inspired me to work on recording or mixing for anything else?

This project has taught me a lot about mixing and recording and as will be useful to consider for some of my final project ideas. Besides that, I’m working on covers at home that I can apply what I’ve learnt to.
