Case study:

In the video above, a dancer for the K-pop band ‘mirror’ who was called Li Kai-yin, was crushed by a 4X4 metre wide LED panel that fell from some high up stage scaffolding, which it was loosely tied to. This also injured two other dancers after it toppled over onto them.

After the accident, Li Kai-yin was hospitalised and put in intensive care for well over a month since his accident and doctors think he will be paralysed from the neck down. Furthermore, three crowd members were also taken to the hospital due to having a traumatising shock from the disaster that took place, fortunately, none of them required medical attention.

This accident could’ve been easily prevented by having the workers that have heights training, to double check that nothing is loose that could potentially fall and cause life changing injuries. his accident is a prime example of why the organisers of such a big event should run a deep health and safety check.

Some people are even wondering if this was done on purpose, this is because it is such a terrible mistake to be caused by such big organisers, also the event managers are getting the authorities to ‘comprehensively investigate the incident’ for any suspicious activity to why the steel wire snapped.

Unfortunately, this accident was that bad that the crowd had to be evacuated in an orderly fashion immediately, and the bands tour was cancelled. despite the evacuation of the crowd, the event organisers did a good job of safely evacuating everyone because nobody got injured.

Overall, to prevent more accidents from happening in the future like this, the event managers should organise an in depth health and safety risk assessment to minimise as much tragic accidents that happen like this.
