In the band we have chosen to do three different songs of different styles and genres so that the audience will watch a performance with some variety in it, In the band I am playing bass and we also have 2 guitarists, 2 pianists, drummer and one main singer with some backing. This means that when selecting songs to perform, we have to choose some that will be compatible with how many instruments we have, and we will pick songs that suit the singers voice as he doesn’t usually sing because he raps instead.
For our first song we decided to choose I wish by Stevie wonder, this is because it suites the singers voice well and there is a part for everyone to play, This is also quite a popular song and will go down well in a live situation. Although there is quite a repetitive riff we will make sure to include a wide range of dynamics and change up the song a bit in our own way.
For our second song we chose aeroplane by RHCP, I think that this song will definitely be very challenging for me to learn on bass because there are some slap parts and even a bass solo. Overall there are some really good parts to this song which is quite complex but this should be a good one for the band to learn and with more practise this will make us sound tighter as a band.
And finally the last song that we picked was uptown funk by Bruno Mars, this song is well known by everyone and will fit perfect as the last song at the end of the night, It definitely should get everyone up on there feet dancing and singing along.
