In the first week back, we did a team work exercise with the level 3s. We had to examine their skills in teamwork exercises that consisted of creating creatures, building towers and untying string. We had to discuss as a big group who we would like to take on into smaller groups. This lead to some arguments as many people wanted the same person in their groups. Once we finally chose groups, we had to think of a charity to raise money for, we had to present it to the class on a presentation which consisted of the charity itself and what it consists of, then ideas on how to raise the money and how we could get the whole college to help! Once we all presented we had to choose one of the charities. In the end, our charity was chosen so we were in charge of the whole thing. We then found out we had to raise the money for a trip for the Ambitions hub group. Later in the week, we looked more into Monologues and what they are, we discussed which monologues we could use and which ones would be best for us. We then watched the movie ‘ fight club’ which included some of the best monologues to help us get a start with memorising them. We discussed as a group what monologues would be best for us all as we found out we had the choice of up to 3 types of monologues Classical, Contemporary and our police museum monologue.
In week 2, We focussed on different monologues and finally choosing the one for us, Many people struggled fining certain ones as some monologues didn’t fit the requirements. Most people went for TV and screen acting monologues as most of us want to go into tv and screen acting. We talked about our monologues and started writing them up and changing parts to make it fit within the timeframe given and to help us memorise it. Once the majority of us had the monologues wrote up, we decided to perform them for each other. This helped us with peer feedback as it helped us develop our monologues so we could perform them to their full potentials. We also played a game of dungeons and dragons as a teamwork exercise. We paired up and worked as a whole group against Steph. This helped us think faster and work better as a team, this was a good thing to do now so when we have to work with level 3 and 2 for their FMP’s, we will be more prepared for when we have to work together and lead them.
For week 3, we spoke to Jenny about what we were going do when we leave college. A few people wanted to continue onto level 4 when we finished college so Jenny spoke to us about the benefits of continuing at Bradford college. We then went on to watch the level 2s and 3s rehearse for their Snow white performance, We got to give them feedback on what to do and what not to do as we had been in their positions before. We got to give input on certain areas to help them improve on their confidence. When the session had finished, a few of us stayed behind to hep the level 2s and 3s with the dances they needed to finish. We helped contribute ideas to their solos and group dances and then put them all together! We also had a woman come in to talk to us about going to universities further out than Bradford, She talked to us about the costs of the basics in universities further away and then spoke to us about the pros and cons within Universities further away. We then went to practice our monologues so we could be prepared for the day after. A group of us went off to perform the monologues in front of each other without looking at the scripts so we were completely ready for it. On the Friday we found out 2 of the other people who where supposed to be on the panel couldn’t make it. So we had Michael come in to fill, this eased most of our nerves as most of us weren’t afraid to mess up the monologue itself and t was more messing up in front of people we didn’t know but were well known within the industry. Many of us spent all morning practicing our monologues while others worked on their scrapbook work. I decided to go off into the other studio so I could be on my own to practice my monologue as I don’t concentrate the best in a busy room. I then asked one of my peers to come watch me so I could get feedback from them on my monologue to make sure I was 100% ready for when we had to perform. After lunch we all came together to discuss the order of who was going and at wat times. Because I wasn’t my turn until about 2:30, Me, Lucas and Dominika went to an empty classroom to practice the monologues. We thought of what questions could possibly be asked after we finish so we could me more prepared for when they ask us. We then headed back to the other studio to wait for our turns, When it cam to my turn I was quite confident as I knew my lines and knew how to perform it properly. Once I finished performing the monologue I went back to call up the next person and spoke to the others in the room about the questions they were asked. When we had all finished our monologues, we came together in the main studio to discuss how we all did and what we could have done to improve, one thing we all had to improve on was professionalism as many of us came in not acting like it was a proper audition.
