Week 1
In the first week, We focused on what monologues were and how to write them. We also discussed some ideas for our ‘police museum’ project. We spent most of our time researching monologues and how to create on and the meanings of them. A woman also came in to talk to us about an amazing opportunity to go to audition for a performing arts college. However, i couldn’t audition because it is 18 and over only.
Week 2
In week 2, We focused on differences between the crimes and living crisis in Victorian England and 20th century England. We had to research crime and punishment to help get into characters for the police museum. For dance, we worked on a silent movement piece based on good habits and bad habits. We had to get into pairs and create a list of habits we could use in the dance. Once we found movements to put into the dance to portray the habits, We put it all together to perform.
Week 3
in week 3, we used the silent movement skills we learned to create a scene as a whole group. We decided to do it based on criminals moving to another jail that end up escaping. We slowly added small pieces of dialogue to create a better scene and so it was more clear. We then went on to do some more research about the police museum and how we could perform there. Later in the week, we went to the Police Museum to get the gist of where we would perform. We got to go inside the actual cells where we found out the start of season 4 of ‘Peaky Blinders’ was being filmed when the Shelby’s are being Hung. W3e also got to go up into the courtroom to see where we would actually be performing for groups.
Week 4
In week 4, we watched a video that explained the plot of Hamilton. We then got to learn a small snippet of ‘My shot’ from Hamilton to create a dance to. After learning the dance for Hamilton, We got split into 2 groups and got to choose a musical of our own to create a dance to. My group chose ‘Candy store’ from the musical ‘Heathers’. We worked together to think of actions that would fit and work smoothly in the dance. We then had to perform it for the other group. Later in the week we had to do ambitions hub, in this lesson we worked with the level 3’s and worked on our leadership skills, we had to lead or group into creating a bridge made out of straws and tape to balance between 2 chairs and to make sure it held 2 books without falling.
Week 5
In the 5th week, We had to create our own monologues based on true cases back in the Victorian era. My character didn’t have much information so i got to create a storyline for my character, Because Ollie and Lucas were doing the same story, they helped me come up with ideas for my character. We spent the rest of the week creating the monologues and trying to memorize them so we could get off scrip for the police museum auditions. At the end of the week we all auditioned for our roles.
