Stage Manager

Stage Manager is a very significant job, this is because they bring the play to life. They have a very stressful job as they have to make sure everything is in order for when the show begins. Then need to make sure the show goes smoothly and correctly by having props in the correct place ready for when they need to be on the stage as well as making sure the actors have the correct props and set pieces. Stage Management calls for an understanding of everything that goes on behind the scenes and back stage, they are always on their feet and have to be ready for anything, such as a malfunction on stage or losing props. Stage management can range from a team of people including an assistant stage manager to a singular person doing the entire thing. Some examples of stage managers are Kelly Kerins and Harold Smith Prince. In the 18th century, Stage manager became the official term as people were starting to be hired to make sure things backstage were in position instead of the actors doing it.

Actors

The actor or actress has the most vital role within the performing arts world. Without the Actors and the actresses, there would be no plays as they portray the characters. Theatre and stage performers traditionally do on stage “in the flesh performances. They will rarely voice characters performed in theatre. Anyone can be an actor if they have the passion and put the time and effort into doing it. Casting management look for people willing to take on tough roles and who are perfectly fit for the roles. The acting world is very tough and very competitive as it’s never just one person going for a role. Actors always have to be on time to rehearsals and always be willing and prepared for the role. if they aren’t, they can easily be replaced. One reason they always have to be on time is because the show literally cannot go on without them, However, there are a million different roles within one performance. These could range from Main roles to background actors with no lines. Some examples of actors are Heath Ledger, Lorenzo Zurzolo, Benedetta Porcaroli and Jenna Ortega. Actors can be any age. like Javon Walton (16) who is most famous for his role in Euphoria alongside the youngest black woman to ever win an Emmy, Zendeya and other actors such as Jacob Elordi, Eric Dane and Dominic Fike. Or another example, Mark Hamill (71) who is mostly known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the famous Star Wars trilogy alongside other actors such as Hayden Christensen, Carrie fisher and Ewan Mcgregor.

MAKEUP ARTIST

The makeup artist is a very important role as they have the job of making the characters look realistic for whatever role the actor is playing. They always have to be on time and prepared for any look they are given to do. The looks could range from something as simple as a black eye to rotting skin! To be a professional MUA on a filming set. you need to have good at design skills and knowledge, the ability to work with your hands and have a creative mindset. MUAs also have to be good at working with a range of different people. The MUA have to communicate with Directors, Lighting staff, Performers and other crew members to pick out the right effects as well as keeping within the budget of the show. The MUAs also have to be at hand ready to give actors touch ups on their makeup and ready for a quick change within the look. Some famous makeup artists are James Charles, Charlotte Tilbury and Mario Dedivanovic. Some MUAs learned to do makeup from YouTube, others went to professional makeup schools like Glauca Rossi School of makeup.
