Week 1
In the first week, we worked with ambitions hub to research ‘The royal Shakespeare company’ and transferable skills. We separated into groups and researched different areas of it. Once we did some research we came together and spoke about how we could present the ideas we had found. We also did research on Bob fosse the dance practitioner and how his work effected the dance industry. We watched some of his videos and then explained what we saw within. the videos we watched, we then started to dance using bob fosses style to create a group dance. In that afternoon we looked at creating personal instagram accounts for our acting space. We looked into the benefits of having an account like that and hoe it can help us get noticed and how to get roles with it. On the Friday we did research on how to lay out essays and what makes a good essay. We spoke about the practitioners we want to research and we did a Kahoot quiz on Konstantin Stanislavski and how his style effected the acting world. We then got given a piece of script to analyse in a Stanislavski style, We spoke about how to play the characters and how to get into the roles.
Week 2
For week 2s ambition hub, We had people come in and talk about how we found ambitions hub and what they could do to improve. There was a lot of mixed answers. We then started working on ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by Shakespeare. We did some freeze frames for moments within the script like when they would fight or when they would be sad. We then changed the freeze frames into mini scenes. We worked in little groups to come up with little scripts on what we could say before being put in a group all together. We got given a piece of script from Romeo and Juliette that we all had to read one line off in a circle. We then discussed what the words used could mean as the Shakespearean English is a lot different to the 21st century English. We then split off into groups of 3 to perform these scenes in different ways, We first started by doing Romeo and Juliette on s council estate and moving over to Romeo and Juliette as a Downton abbey or Bridgeton styled show.
In Week 3 of project 3, We started by watching Romeo and Juliette, It helped people who had never watched it before understand it fully. Mid way through the film. Some of the level 3 extended decided to sit in a different room to work on ideas for our FMP. We discussed ideas for the Soundtrack we would use and then who would be good fits for all of the production rolls. On the Thursday we focussed on a new dance style for Martha graham. We researched her work before getting started on creating a dance within her style. On the Friday, we discussed the theatre practitioners the class has chose. We realised only 2 practitioners were chosen, this made it easier for us all as now we could do it as bigger groups instead of in the duos. As soon as we found out we could do it as groups, we worked on learning the Romeo and Juliette script we had been given.
In week 4, we were asked to create newspaper articles on the story of Romeo and Juliette, we wrote it as a modern day newspaper and spoke about the wars between the 2 main families within the story and the shocking death of both main characters. On the Thursday we had a workshop on anti-bullying. We were put in groups with the media course and given 3 topics to focus on. We had to talk about Poverty, identity and other things in our groups. Me and my group focussed on identity and things that make up your identity that you shouldn’t hide from others out of fear. These consisted of Religion, Style, Background and more. When we discussed them all as a class, we then got asked to write secrets on small pieces of paper and then put them into an envelope anonymously, They then told us they were going to read them out. This scared a few people as some didn’t want theirs to be read. In the end, they didn’t end up reading any out as it was just an example of bulling and spreading peoples personal information. On Friday, we got straight on with working on our Romeo and Juliette scripts in the style of Stanislavski. We continued to go over it an then decided to make it our own by modernising the script to make it more comfortable and realistic. In the afternoon we added a few extra bits and kept going over it before performing for the other group. When we performed it, it was so much easier as we had gone over it multiple times and knew what to do, the only thing we struggled with was where to stand on stage as the lighting made it harder in some areas.
In week five, we did a masterclass with all of the other courses that work on ambitions hub. We first got sown the group leading the masterclass’s recent project which was to create toys for children. They gave us a thorough rundown of their toy and what the toy will do for the younger generation. When they finished showing their projects, We were challenged to put ourselves in order of birthdays in a short time, We didn’t end up finishing it as some people refused to help us getting into order. We then got split off into groups of 5 and asked to make short videos on climate change an how global warming is destroying the planet at a rapid pace. We decided to go back to our normal classroom and plan ideas there. We decided on creating a small montage of videos of the nature at Braford college and then it transitioned into the rubbish on the floor around our college. We ended up coming first for the video and teamwork skills and we won prizes!
