I chose this monologue for multiple reasons. 1 reason was because I would like to go more into screen and tv acting. Another reason is some of the themes shown within shameless were were based around family troubles and how families can be effected by addiction. I believed id be able to play a good Fiona in my monologue as I sometimes have to face some of the problems she had to face with her family.
On the day of the audition, we were told we only had to perform one monologue. This made it a lot easier for us all as we were all very nervous about performing 2 monologues. We then also found out 2 of the people on our panel that were auditioning us weren’t able to make it. This also eased our nerves as now we knew the 2 people that got chose to be on the panel. Through the day I chose to go find a quieter room to practice my monologue and to get off script with it. This helped me a lot as I concentrate better on my own. Every often I’d ask someone to come watch me to perform my monologue so I could have constructive feedback to help improve before going into the actual audition. Me, Dominika and Lucas went to a separate room to go over the monologues one last time before going into the auditions. We asked each other questions about our monologues so we could be prepared for when we go into it. When I went into the audition, I was a lot more confident than what I normally am in auditions as I knew how to apply the emotional range and how to perform it properly. I believe my audition went well but if I was to redo the audition I would only change the way I came into the room as I didn’t go in there in a more mature way.
