Risk Assessment

Potential risks within the performance:

  • Tripping over- this can be a huge risk for both the crew members and cast members. Being part of a performance means sometimes everything will be rushed, this could lead to people getting injured by falling over objects and other people. This doesn’t just happen backstage, these things could occur on stage too. It is a very low risk rating but its better to be safe than sorry! Many things can be done to stop incidents like this, a few examples are simply just watching where you walk, this stops you and your peers and colleagues from being hurt and tripping! Removing any obstructions where they are not needed, this clears more space and gives everyone a lot more room to move around. If things are not needed on stage and backs stage, find somewhere to put them, especially if they are personal belongings as you wouldn’t want yours to end up broke or break someone elses!

  • Weather- This may not seem like such a big risk, but it can be. This effects everyone and everything, you work with as it can either prevent people from coming in or someone could slip on something after it gets wet or icy! Equipment could be damaged and broke with means that your delayed in whatever performance it is as you have to wait to fix the equipment or buy more. If the weather is cold, there’s a chance you could get sick, which means more timing problems as this can set you back due to lacking actors and crew members. This is a medium risk as you cannot do anything to prevent the weather. There are some things you can do though to make sure your not caught up in these, for example, something as simple as checking the weather the day you wake up, this stops you from filming in such bad weather.
  • Another risk is miscommunication, this seems like a small problem, but it can easily escalate into a very big issue. This consists of not keeping cast and crew members updated on what’s happening, where your going or when your doing certain things. This is because if someone’s not updated on what’s happening, then it can cause multiple delays on the performance. You can stop this from happening by keeping in contact with each other and updating each other if there’s any sudden changes.
