My notes:
this performance was at St Georges hall, Bradford.- This show is more about him telling his life story and not so much singing his own songs
- He also sings a few songs that aren’t his but they describe his state and current path in the story and he has either helped make these songs or sang on them in the studio when people asked him to do it.
- At one point he left the stage mid song to get a drink and came back and talked about it.
- It is a seat filled venue but that did not stop him from getting people to get up and dance in the nooks and crannies of the aisles.
- There was a 20 minute minute interval where he had a costume change.
- After the short 20 minute intermission, they came back and sat down on stools and did some songs with an acoustic guitar instead of electric.
- There was one song which was a sad song so it made sense to do it more sensually than like a rock band.
- He introduces his next song very well by having a conversation with the audience and then linking it to his next song.
- Then after finishing his sensual songs, he goes back into the upbeat music and gets rid of the stools.
- He wanted everyone to get back up and dance so he asked the audience “what happened to the dancing?”
- He addressed the audience and said thank you for enjoying the show and left but his band kept playing
- When the band finished playing they all left off the stage.
- But then they all came back on for one last song, the one everyone was looking most forward to.
- At the end they all got together and bowed to the audience.
